Upcoming Events and Workshops
RecycleWorks offers or supports events and workshops, many specifically for educators, that encourage resource conservation efforts within the County. Find out what's coming up.
California Regional Environmental Education Coordinators Network (CREEC) works to connect Bay Area teachers with the highest quality environmental education resources available. They maintain a calendar of environmental education events in the Bay Area and a resource directory of specific programs and organization. You can join their discussion group to talk about local environmental topics.
Resource Area For Teachers (RAFT) in Redwood City and San Jose offers interactive workshops in which teachers can earn continuing education units (CEU's) through San Jose State University or Foothill College. The workshops demonstrate hands-on lessons for teaching a variety of subjects in science, math, art, and technology. Many of these lessons use RAFT activity kits consisting of materials and equipment that are reused rather than being thrown out as garbage by local businesses.
Bay Area Earth Science Institute (BAESI) offers hands-on workshops and field trips. By attending these activities 4th-12th grade teachers will be provided with instructional materials for classroom lessons, and they could earn continuing education units (CEU's) through San Jose State University.
RecycleWorks publishes a newsletter each fall specifically for teachers and school administrators. The 2016-2017 - No. 17 (PDF) is available online.
