Tree Trimming Tips

  • Flocked trees cannot be made into compost due to their chemical content. Ox Mountain Landfill will accept flocked trees for other use.

  • If you choose to use tinsel, make sure that all of it is removed before recycling your tree.

  • Do not bag your tree. If you do, it will not be recycled.

Remove all tinsel, lights, decorations and stands from your holiday tree. Make sure trees are 8 feet or under. If it's taller than 8 feet, then please cut the tree into shorter lengths. Leave tree or tree pieces next to your green Compost Cart. After January 31st, trees need to be cut into pieces and placed inside the Compost Cart. The pieces must fit inside.

Multi-Family Dwellings: Call us to determine the best location for a consolidation of loose trees or to place a bin or drop box.
