Tree Trimming Tips

  • Flocked trees cannot be made into compost due to their chemical content. However, Allied Waste of San Carlos, and Ox Mountain Landfill will accept flocked trees for other use.

  • If you choose to use tinsel, make sure that all of it is removed before recycling your tree.

  • Do not bag your tree. If you do, it will not be recycled.

Remove all decorations, tinsel and lights. Please cut trees in half as a courtesy to the drivers and to facilitate equipment operations. (If this is not possible, tree will still be collected.) Leave tree next to (not in) the green Yard Waste container.

Will accept flocked trees. Multi-family dwellings call Customer Service to arrange pickup.

Picked up on your regular green waste day.

Collected at curbside

Remove stands. Cut tree if larger than six (6) feet. No trimmings or bags.

No flocked trees. You can bring trees to 1046 Palmetto Ave. anytime Mon. thru Sat. 8 am - 4 pm.

Picked up on your regularly scheduled service day from December 25 - January 15

Collected at curbside

Tree must be cut into four (4) foot sections. No stands. Remove all lights and decorations. Place trees next to yard waste cart.

Accepts flocked trees (not recycled).
After January 15, you must call Allied Waste to schedule a tree pick-up. A fee will apply.

From December 26, 2009 through January 30, 2010 on your regular collection day.

No Stand. Remove all decorations and lights. Cut tree to 5-foot lengths and place sections curbside.

Will accept flocked trees. After January 30, all trees must be cut up to fit loosely in your compostables cart.
