The Friends of Fitzgerald Marine Reserve

This organization aims to inspire the preservation of the unique intertidal environment at the Marine Reserve through education and the support of research. Volunteer naturalists take about 5000 school children on guided tours of the area, and introduce thousands of other visitors to the wonders of the rocky coastline. The group also organize beach cleanups and holds other events that combine family fun with learning about and protecting our environment. You may support this organization via donation.

The San Mateo Arboretum Society
Founded in 1974, the Society encourages interest in gardening, collects and propagates diverse plant species, supports the City of San Mateo's Central Park and Rose Garden, and educates the community on horticultural subjects. Offers public workshops. Members receive newsletters and 10% discounts on all plant purchases.

Peninsula Open Space Trust
POST works to give permanent protection to the beauty, character and diversity of the San Francisco Peninsula and Santa Cruz Mountain range. It encourages the use of these lands for natural resource protection, wildlife habitat, public recreation and agriculture for people here now and for future generations. Since its founding in 1977, POST has been responsible for saving 64,000 acres as permanent open space and parkland in San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties.
